Kujira Ⅱ

The name Kujira (くじら) is Japanese for whale. The revolutionary tubercle design of our foils mimics the pectoral fin of the humpback whale, which is known for its agility, power and efficiency. Despite weighing around 30 tonnes, humpback whales demonstrate surprising performance — developing a peak speed approaching 25 km/h and performing impressive jumps above the surface.

The tubercles along the leading edge channel water flows, divide them into streams and change the distribution of pressure — pushing back the stalling limit and allowing the rider to use smaller size foils. In summary, the bumps reduce water resistance and turbulences resulting in less drag and an increase in speed, allowing the foil to be more agile, stable and to turn at sharper angles. The result is an enormous improvement in terms of hydrodynamics, lift, glide, stability and comfort during flight.

The winglets reduce and redirect the angle of the vortex for less vibration and more stability for a smooth and comfortable ride.
